What a crown does
A crown is a custom-made cap that covers the visible part of a tooth. It restores the tooth’s shape and strength and can improve its appearance at the same time.
Choosing a material
Crowns can be made from different materials. Zirconia is a strong, metal-free ceramic that can be shaded to match your natural teeth, making it a popular choice for both front and back teeth. Dr. Supriya will recommend a material based on the tooth’s position, your bite and your preferences.
How bridges replace missing teeth
A bridge is anchored to crowns on the teeth either side of a gap — or to implants — and carries a replacement tooth in between. It’s fixed in place, so there’s nothing to remove at night.
What to expect
- An examination to confirm a crown or bridge is the right option
- Preparing the tooth (or teeth) and recording their shape
- A temporary crown or bridge while the final one is made
- Fitting, checking your bite and making fine adjustments
