Why plan early
Some improvements take a single visit; others, such as straightening teeth, take months. Starting early gives you every option, leaves time for your gums to settle after treatment, and means nothing new is being done in the final, busy weeks.
Even if your wedding is close, there is usually something helpful we can do. The sooner we see you, the more choice you have.
What a wedding smile plan can include
- Professional cleaning and polishing to remove tartar and surface stains
- Teeth whitening, supervised by a dentist, for a brighter natural shade
- Gum care, so gums look healthy and don’t bleed
- Tooth-coloured fillings to replace dark or worn fillings that show when you smile
- Bonding and gentle reshaping to repair small chips and even out edges
- Crowns, including zirconia crowns, for heavily damaged or discoloured teeth
- Clear aligners or ceramic braces to straighten teeth, when there is enough time
- Replacing a missing tooth that shows in your smile
A timeline to work back from
- 12 months or more before — the ideal time to start orthodontic treatment such as clear aligners or braces, or a plan with several stages.
- 6 to 9 months before — time for shorter alignment, replacing a missing tooth and any treatment that needs healing time.
- 3 to 6 months before — professional teeth whitening if it suits you, then crowns, fillings, bonding and reshaping, matched to your new shade.
- 4 to 6 weeks before — a final check-up and any small adjustments. If whitening is the only treatment you need, this is a good time for it, so the shade has time to settle.
- 1 to 2 weeks before — a professional cleaning and polish, so your teeth look their brightest on the day.
Natural, not overdone
As an orthodontist, Dr. Supriya looks at how your teeth, lips and face work together. The aim is a smile that looks like you on your best day — balanced and healthy, not artificially white or uniform — and that still looks right in photographs years from now.
For the whole family
Weddings bring families together, and many couples, parents and siblings like to plan their dental care at the same time. We are happy to arrange consultations for family members, including children, around your wedding preparations.
Tips for the wedding week
- Avoid starting any new treatment in the last two weeks
- Keep up brushing twice a day and cleaning between your teeth, even on busy days
- Rinse with water after tea, coffee and coloured foods such as turmeric dishes
- If you wear aligners or a retainer, pack the case in your wedding bag
- Drink plenty of water during long ceremonies to keep your mouth fresh
