Metal Braces
Small metal brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth and linked by a thin archwire. Gentle, controlled pressure gradually guides the teeth into better positions over time.
- Often a good fit for
- Teenagers and adults with crowded, gapped or rotated teeth, or a bite that doesn’t meet comfortably — including more complex alignment needs.

05 Orthodontic FAQs
Braces & aligners, answered.
Yes. Dr. Supriya P, BDS, MDS (Orthodontics), is an orthodontist and offers both metal braces and tooth-coloured ceramic braces. The right option depends on your teeth, your bite and your preferences, which we discuss at your consultation.
Yes. Clear aligners are a removable, nearly invisible way to straighten teeth. They suit many — but not all — alignment concerns, so suitability is confirmed after an in-person examination.
Both work in the same way. Metal braces use stainless steel brackets and are very durable. Ceramic braces use tooth-coloured brackets, so they are much less noticeable, but the small elastic ties can stain with strongly coloured foods such as turmeric, tea and coffee. Dr. Supriya can help you weigh appearance, comfort and your treatment needs.
It depends on what needs to be corrected and the type of treatment. Simpler cases can take a few months; many braces and aligner treatments take between one and two years. You’ll receive a personal estimate after your consultation.
In most cases, yes. Teeth tend to drift after treatment, especially in the first months. Wearing your retainer as advised is one of the most important things you can do to keep your result.
